Five For Friday - Summer Edition #2

Could it be?  Blogging two days in a row?  Why, yes.  Yes, I am blogging two days in a row.  I am slowly back into this blogging business {and loving it!}.  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching again this Friday!

I don't know if you have ever visited allrecipes.com before, but I am loving it right now.  Since school has been out, I have been trying to do a better job at cooking meals for my family.  This website is filled to the brim with great recipes.  On Wednesday, my son and I made the recipe for Best Brownies. They were so yummy!  I have made two other recipes from this website this week alone and have a ton more in my recipe box.  I highly recommend allrecipes if you are looking for something new to eat.

This is a picture of my son and husband riding a ride at Legoland last weekend.  It's a fun picture of them, but I love it more for the memory of what happened right after this picture was taken.  {You may, or may not, remember that my son has Autism.  He just started talking when he was 6 and is not clear most of the time.  He still relies heavily on sign language.}  Anyway, right after this picture was taken, Colton looked right at me and said "Hi, Mom!" - clear as day.  My heart just melted!

Yep - I took a picture of my tablet when I passed level 65.  I had to show my Bestie. :)   I had been working on this level for weeks and was just about to give up.  Right now I'm on my third quest to move on.  I had a hard time passing this level {33} the first time around.  I'm sure it will take me a while to pass it again.  Do you play this addicting fun game too?  What level are you on?

My son starts ESY in another week, but we have been working on some skills here at home this week.  {Sorry Buddy - that's what happens when your Mommy is a teacher.  ;)}  Yesterday, we were working on an addition page.  He still needs a number line, so I drew a quick one on a piece of paper.  Well, math was a little rough to get through.  I asked him if he wanted me to make him a Star Wars number line, and he said yes.  He picked out Hans Solo and Princess Leia to be on his number line.  Colton was so proud of it and showed it to my husband.  Later last night my husband said "Colton really likes that ruler thingy."  Number line, honey.  It's a number line.  Ah, husbands - gotta love them!  {By the way, math was much easier today with the Star Wars number line.}

I saw this today and started laughing so hard!  I can't tell you how true this is.  It doesn't matter if it's another state or another country, this is what Kansans hear.  My husband even made a stupid funny Wizard of Oz joke the first time I met him.  Good thing he was cute!  {I live in Las Vegas now which has it's own set of fun comments.  lol}

Thanks for joining me for Five for Friday!  I hope that you have a fun filled weekend!

  1. I love your number line! My daughter is three and I keep drawing out quick ten frames for her night time sticker chart. My goal is to create some nicer TpT-worthy frames this summer.

    The Wizard of Oz thing would get old quick! I grew up in Texas and people always asked if I rode a horse to school.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! It's funny how just a simple number line makes me feel like I've accomplished something. haha

  2. Love your FIVE, and yes, I'm obsessed with Candy Crush. I've been stuck on level 70 for 2 months...yes 2 MONTHS...so I got mad at it, and haven't played in a week. ha! Love your story about your little one...how sweet & heartwarming is that?! Thanks for sharing...

    I live in the south (GA), and you'd be amazed at people's assumptions.. i.e...do you live on a plantation, and do your kids wear shoes to school? No lie. Ugh.

    1. Oh, my - 2 months! I think I would have quit by now. I am now on 76, and it's driving me nuts. *Hint for 70 - work on the right side to get rid of the chocolate first. :)
